WS1: Workshop on Integrated Optical-Wireless Networks
With demand growing for broadband wireless access to multimedia content, the close integration of wireless access systems with the backbone and access optical networks has become an urgent requirement. This Workshop will offer expert views and an opportunity for open discussion of the many relevant issues, which include:

• Radio over fiber (remote location of most transmitter/receiver functions)
• Edge nodes sharing resources between optical and wireless functions
• Common standards for broadband wireless-optical interfaces
• Exploiting subcarrier modulation (such as OFDM) across wireless and optical transmission segments
• Self-configuring optical-wireless networks.
• Seamless service continuity between wired and wireless networks.
• Mapping quality of service (QoS) from air interfaces to optical subchannels
• Realizing end-to-end QoS and quality of experience across the concatenation of wireless and optical segments.
