Welcome Message from the IEEE WCNC 2010 General Chair

Welcome to the wireless flagship conference of the IEEE Communications Society, the IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference 2010. This is the first time that IEEE WCNC is organized in the Southern Hemisphere and we proud to have the beautiful city of Sydney as the venue for the IEEE WCNC 2010. IEEE WCNC is the premier wireless event that brings together industry professionals and academics from companies, governmental agencies, and universities from around the world to exchange information on advancements in wireless communications and wireless networking technologies.

This is also only the second time that WCNC comes to the world’s fastest growing region of Asia-Pacific and we are proud that we could attract the second largest number of paper submission to the IEEE WCNC 2010 after its great success during IEEE WCNC 2007 in Hong Kong. This shows that the region is an internationally attractive place not just for the business but also for technical events. IEEE WCNC 2010 has received a large of number of 1474 technical papers from 58 countries, with around 59% from the Asia-Pacific region, 26% from the Europe, Middle East, Africa region, and 15% from the Americas. This makes the IEEE WCNC 2010 a truly international event and indeed the greatest technical wireless event.

IEEE WCNC 2010 provides its attendees a rich technical content with eight interesting tutorial courses and two technical workshops on Sunday and three days of intensive technical sessions on Monday to Wednesday. The three days of technical sessions are also flourished by commencing with a high-level keynote speech from some of the leaders in the field of wireless and a series of Technology and Business Panels organized by industry people from all around the world.

I would like to thank our Technical Program Committee Chairs, Dr. Mansoor Shafi, Telecom New Zealand and Dr. Y. Jay Guo, CSIRO, the eight Technical Program Committee Vice Chairs for the four tracks of the conference, and over 625 Technical Program Committee Members, as well as all other Organizing Committee Members and IEEE Communications Staff for their outstanding effort in making the IEEE WCNC 2010 a great and highly valuable event this year.  I would like also to sincerely thank our patrons who have made the financial and technological status of the conference much more sound.

Our goal has been to make your participation in IEEE WCNC 2010 one of the most valuable and memorable experiences of your professional and personal life. Welcome to the Sydney Darling Harbour!
